Kyrie Irving and Nike Are Officially Over

Nike Cancels Kyrie Irving Contract

Kyrie Irving’s latest controversy comes from him making a post on social media about a book and movie that has antisemitic ideas. Several days after Irving made the post, Nike suspended his contract.

Nike recently made a statement that they would not release Irving’s upcoming signature shoe, the Kyrie 8.

“At Nike, we believe there is no place for hate speech and we condemn any form of antisemitism,” Nike said in a prepared statement. “We are deeply saddened and disappointed by the situation and its impact on everyone.”

Since his contract is suspended, it’s still a possibility that the Kyrie 8 does eventually release, and Kyrie continues to work with the brand. But for now, the shoes are off the table. Once we receive more information, we will make sure to update you.

Update (12/5): Kyrie Irving and Nike have officially parted ways. After signing to the brand back in 2011, he is now officially a sneaker free agent, according to Shams Charania.
